Endoscopic Procedures
Endoscopes and enteroscopes are thin tube-like instruments that allow your doctor to view of the internal organs without incisions.
Hernia Repair Surgery
Hernia repair surgery is done to return the herniating organ or tissue to its proper position and strengthen the weak spot so it doesn’t reoccur.
Gallbladder Surgery
Gallbladder disease (cholecystitis) and gallstones are some reasons your doctor may advise removing your gallbladder.
Surgery for Pancreatic Diseases
Surgery may be needed for pancreatic diseases, acute and chronic pancreatitis, pancreatic pseudocysts or tumours of the pancreas.
Splenectomy
The spleen is generally removed when ruptured or enlarged, for certain types of cancer or for management of thrombocytopenia.
Thyroidectomy
The thyroid gland may be surgically removed if enlarged (goitre), overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism) or if nodules have developed on the gland.
Parathyroidectomy
For overactive parathyroid glands (hyperparathyroidism) and tumours of the parathyroid gland, surgery may be done to remove the gland all together.
Colon Resection Surgery
Colon resection surgery is often done to remove an obstruction or blockage in the large intestine, but may also be done for bowel cancer.
Bowel Resection
Inflammatory bowel diseases, Ulcerative Colitis and Crohn's Disease, may be treated or managed with resection of the diseased bowel.
Appendectomy
This is one of the most common surgeries done to remove the appendix as treatment of acute appendicitis.
Benign Disorders of the Anus and Rectum
Benign disorders of the anus such as haemorrhoids, anal fissures and anal fistulas may require surgical treatment.
